5 of 5 Hate the Title - Love the Book February 10, 2011
Reviewer: Patty Breton from Edmonton, AB Canada
I have a personal aversion to negative titles, so it was with some serious trepidation on my part that I even opened this book.  I have been studying Kabbalah for almost a decade and certainly didn't feel I was part of this book's target audience.  Much to my shock and amazement, I was very impressed with how the authors combined their knowledge to produce a truly informative and easily accessible approach to authentic Kabbalah.

Peppered throughout the text are sidebars such as "Kab-Trivia, On Track, def-i-ni-tion, Red Alert, and Word of Heart" which I found more helpful than distracting.  And the Glossary at the end of the book is very clear and easy to understand.

So, whether this title resonates with you or not, it's well worth your time.  In my case, this was definitely a "Don't judge a book by its cover" situation.

5 of 5 A book for everyone and anyone October 18, 2010

I think this is one of the best, most easy to comprehend books on Kabbalah I've read to date. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Kabbalah touches on every aspect of Kabbalah in concise and clear explanations.

The book manages to cover much of the essence of Kabbalah and by including the helpful inserts of Kab Trivia, Words of Inspiration, Red Alerts, Definitions, and especially On Track Tips, and The Least You Need to Know list of important concepts at the end of each chapter, (my favorite) I was tempted to continue reading chapter after chapter. It's a book that's difficult to put down.

For me, The Idiot's Guide to Kabbalah is a  book about deep truths presented in a refreshing, light hearted manner that brings Kabbalah into everyday language and ties everything covered together in answering the question: What is the meaning of my life? And so much more.

If you're a fan of the "Idiot's Guide" series this book is perfect for you and if you're looking for a comprehensive guide to Kabbalah, this is it. I personally find this is one of the best (of several) that I return to when I want to reference something quickly or when I want the side notes and side bars with definitions, facts and trivia and quotes that the "Idiot's Guide" is known for providing. If I'm looking for clarification on a Kabbalistic idea I start with this one because it's simply stated and encompasses so much information in a concise manner. I have several books on Kabbalah and by Rav Michael Laitman and I would recommend this book to the curious, the beginning student and the advanced, alike. There is something in it for all of us. I return to it often.

This book is great for a beginner who needs the answers to the basics as to what kabbalah is and is not.It begins at the beginning with the creationism story then leads in with Adam and the spliting of the souls. Abraham, Moses all the way to this point in time where correction of the souls must be made so we can once again unify with the Creator. But don't take my word for any of this read this great work and start fitting together the pieces of the puzzle of your soul.

A wonderful book that is at once entertaining and informative. Kabbalah is a vast and very daunting subject to tackle without someone to guide you, and Michael Laitman with Collin Canright are up to the task. As Kabbalah is now experiencing tremendous growth in the number of people studying, now is the time to find out what all the fuss is about. This book can help anyone to understand and demystify the science of Kabbalah, and hopefully help to answer the deep profound questions people have about the meaning of their lives. Highly recommended!
